Os antigos Poetas

 

The ancient Poets animated all sensible objects with Gods or Geniuses calling them by the names and adorning them with the properties of woods, rivers, mountains, lakes, cities, nations, and whatever their enlarged & numerous senses could perceive.

And particularly they studied the genius of each city & country, placing it under its mental deity.

Till a system was formed, which some took advantage of & enslav’d the vulgar by attempting to realize or abstract the mental deities from their objects: thus began Priesthood. Choosing forms of worship from poetic tales.

And at length they pronounced that the Gods had order’d such things. Thus men forgot that All deities reside in the human breast.

Os antigos Poetas animaram com Deuses ou Gênios todos os objetos substanciais, chamando-os pelos nomes e ornando-os com as características dos bosques, rios, montanhas, lagos, cidades, nações, e tudo o que seus ampliados & numerosos sentidos podiam perceber.

E particularmente eles estudaram o talento de cada cidade & país, colocando-os sob sua respectiva divindade.

Até que se formou um sistema, do qual alguns tiraram proveito, & e o comum foi escravizado pela tentativa de se compreender ou se abstrair as divindades de seus objetos: assim começou o Sacerdócio. Escolhendo formas de cultos a partir de narrativas poéticas.

E finalmente eles pronunciaram que os Deuses haviam ordenado tais coisas. Assim os homens se esqueceram que Todas as divindades residem no peito humano.

Ao ser interrogado sobre o título deste blog, resolvi escrever este texto como uma tentativa de explicá-lo a mim mesmo. E talvez isso possa fazer sentido a você que lê estas linhas. “Olhar Mutante” é o ato de olhar de um modo diferente. “Olhar Mutante” me traz uma idéia de “ser flexível”, de “mudar seu ponto de vista quando este não é mais suficiente”. “Olhar Mutante” é uma característica daquele que aceita o fato de que tudo é impermanente. Alguém que compreende que tudo está mudando, que tudo é relativo exceto o Absoluto. E se tudo está mudando, porque não mudar também nossos pontos de vista? Eis uma explicação simplória sobre “Olhar Mutante”, apenas por enquanto, porque ela pode mudar…

After being questioned about the name of this blog, I have decided to write this text as an attempt to explain it to myself. And maybe it will make some sense to those who will read these words. “Olhar Mutante” is a Portuguese expression that could be translated (in my opinion) as “Mutant View” or “Mutant Looking”. “Olhar Mutante” is the act of looking in a different manner. “Olhar Mutante” means “becoming flexible”, means “changing your point of view when it is not enough anymore”. “Olhar Mutante” is a characteristic of someone who accepts the fact that everything is impermanent. Someone who understands that everything is changing, everything is relative, except the Absolute. If everything is changing, why can’t we change our point of view? That is a plain explanation about “Olhar Mutante”, only for a while, because it may change…
